Make a Move

Every November, the global charity Movember encourages men to grow a mustache for the thirty days of the month to bring much-needed awareness to men’s issues of prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges.

I hope those of you with an aptitude for growing facial hair will save a razor in order to prompt conversations around increasing awareness and understanding. For those who want to support the scruff but cannot grow mustaches of their own, here’s a roundup of some whimsical accessories.

To learn more about men’s health and how to raise funds, visit Movember.

1. Mustache bottle stopper. 2. Zara velvet smoking slipper. 3. Cufflinks, Inc. Cool Cut mustache cuff links. 4. Mustachifier mustache pacifiers in The Cowboy, The Gentleman, and The Ladies Man. 5. Dude and Chick letterpress Grow Crazy birthday card. 6. Forever21 mustache and sunglasses ring set. 7. Tervis Tumblers in The Connoisseur; also available in The Handle Bar, The Fu Manchu, and The Magnum.

Home Edition: Champagne Brunch

3,000 miles is a long way from home, and sometimes you feel like only San Franciscans understand San Franciscans. So I planned a champagne brunch to (re)connect alumnae of my alma mater for those of us living in the other city, New York City.

To greet the guests, I was honored to welcome our recently appointed President of Schools. Though nothing makes a girl feel more at home than cute food and lots of bubbly, it was the decades-old memories that warmed the space and made everyone long for the City by the Bay. Details after the jump.

Champagne Brunch B

On the menu, I served a selection of sweet and savory:

  • Pains au chocolat
  • DIY yogurt parfait
  • Lox and home-pickled onion
  • Truffled deviled eggs

And filled in the details with a few touches of flair:

  • Vintage flutes
  • Blooms in yellows + greens
  • Bubbly…

Cheers to connecting with these ladies!

Home Edition: Cocktail Hour

When the workday starts at 7 a.m., I’m hoping for a cocktail by 4 p.m. Wouldn’t it be great if a bar cart trolled the hallways offering a cold beverage to get me through the last few hours of the day? Well, a girl can dream… In the meantime, a bar cart is just as perfect as a stationary furnishing, housing crystal double old-fashioneds and my favorite whiskey. I bet I could find some place for one of these:
